The Extend360 Agent is a universal wireless client that makes it easy for mobile
workers to connect to any type of wireless network, including Wi-Fi hotspots, mobile cellular data
networks, and corporate wireless LANs.
Fiberlink's patent-pending Active Transport Notification™ technology detects all available
hot spots and wireless access points within range. Mobile employees can choose any authorized
connection type from a simple menu bar. A uniform logon eliminates the need for employees to
remember multiple passwords and authentication procedures.
Enterprises can consolidate on one wireless agent instead of supporting multiple clients,
and can reduce help desk and support costs.
The Extend360 Agent runs continuously from boot-up to shut-down, monitoring
connectivity and security software. Using policies received from MaaS360™, it ensures that
required software is installed and running, that security patches have been received and applied,
and that virus signature, DAT and configuration files are current.
It can also remediate problems, for example by restarting applications that have been turned
off by the employee or by a virus.
The Extend360 Agent ensures that laptops PCs are always fully protected by the latest
software and updates, even when they are in “the mobile blind spot” outside of the corporate
network.
The Extend360 Agent provides Network Access Control for mobile systems: Mobile
NAC.
If required software is not installed, up-to-date and running on the laptop or PC, the
Extend360 Agent can take actions like:
• Notifying the employee.
• Restarting or updating applications.
• Terminating other applications (e.g. filesharing).
• Terminating Internet and VPN connections.
• Restricting non-compliant systems to specified IP addresses (e.g. the DMZ or remediation areas).
These features ensure that enterprise networks are protected from non-compliant mobile devices.
