Fiberlink Ethical Hacker Examines Elusive Threats Introduced by Mobile Devices at the World Summit on Intrusion Prevention

May 8, 2007

WHAT: Today, it is almost impossible to do business without using a mobile device. While laptops allow employees to work from anywhere, at anytime, these mobile devices are especially vulnerable to malicious threats, such as spyware and viruses.

Fiberlink Senior Systems Engineer and Ethical Hacker Dan Hoffman will impart a stark examination of elusive network vulnerabilities and hacking techniques with which IT professionals should become acquainted. At the 2007 World Summit on Intrusion Prevention, Hoffman will show network managers how to proactively protect roaming laptops and mobile devices being used to connect back to the corporate network to access sensitive data and resources.

Fiberlink is recognized as an industry leader in delivering software and services that make mobile working simpler and more secure. Fiberlink’s technology ensures that mobile devices, and the data they carry, are protected at all times from hackers, viruses, loss, theft, “data leakage” and other hazards brought on by mobile computing.

The 2007 World Summit on Intrusion Prevention is a forum for corporate IT  executives, government, legal and academic experts to discuss emerging technologies in intrusion prevention.

WHO:  Daniel V. Hoffman is a senior systems engineer with over 12 years of hands-on remote access security knowledge. Prior to his IT career, Hoffman was in the U.S. Coast Guard and today remains in the service of protecting people. Hoffman is a frequent article contributor to the Ethical Hacker Network and book author of “Blackjacking: Security Threats to BlackBerry Devices, PDAs, and Cell Phones in the Enterprise,” released in April 2007 by Wiley Publishing.

Hoffman’s depth of experience brings reality and education to his well-known live hacking demonstrations, which have been featured in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s open source infrastructure report.
