WHAT: Fiberlink presents the SANS Network Security “lunch and learn” session, “ Hacking the Mobile Workforce,” which will review the steps all IT managers must consider to protect their mobile workforce and the devices they use.
Mobile technology allows employees to work from anywhere in order to remain productive while away from the traditional office, and these scenarios create more holes of vulnerability for the network. Additionally, there is an alarming number of malicious threats whose point-of-entry is off-the-LAN, driving the imperative for IT to secure the network against those risks. According to market research firm Current Analysis, Fiberlink is the first company of its kind to introduce managed services that secure remote and mobile workers against non-network based threats.
Fiberlink’s Daniel Hoffman imparts a complete examination of elusive network vulnerabilities and techniques with which IT professionals should become acquainted.
WHO: Fiberlink’s expert, ethical, “white hat” hacker, Daniel V. Hoffman, senior systems engineer (CISSP, CWNA, CEH), will demonstrate several methods and “tricks of the trade” that hackers use to gain access to corporate laptops, bypassing anti-virus and firewall protection. Once inside, a hacker has full access to the corporate network, stealing confidential information and destroying sensitive company assets.
Hoffman has over 12 years of hands-on remote access security knowledge and expertise. Prior to his IT career, Hoffman was in the U.S. Coast Guard and has remained in the service of protecting people. Hoffman’s depth of experience brings reality and education to his well-known hacking demonstrations.
