BLUE BELL, Pa., September 25, 2006 – Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) has been selected by Network World as a 2006 Enterprise All-Star for its innovative and effective approach in allowing its mobile and remote workers around the world to work simply and securely while away from the traditional office. Fiberlink Communications Corp., the trusted partner for enterprises that want to simplify and secure mobile working, has worked with Continental Airlines for the past 4 years and helped the airline ensure their mobile endpoints are in compliance with IT security and usage policies at all times.
The Network World Enterprise All-Stars are companies that have demonstrated exceptional use of technology to improve business processes within an industry segment. This year’s competition netted 40 winners, from nearly 200 highly competitive entries. Judges weighed entrants’ "exceptional use of technology" and demonstration of how "smart use of technology is smart business." These award-winning IT projects are profiled in Network World’s special edition Signature Series Enterprise All-Star Issue published today, and available on their Web site at: www.networkworld.com/allstar/2006.
“The ability to secure access to critical network-based resources for mobile employees is extremely valuable to Continental, especially as mobility is becoming more and more widespread. Two big drivers for us in selecting Fiberlink’s solution were cost and ease of use. But more than that, working with Fiberlink allows us to proactively protect our endpoints by ensuring that users are in compliance with IT security and usage policies from start up to shut down.” says Stacey Thomas, senior manager of telecommunications technology at Continental. “Fiberlink offers mobile access software and security services that let us maintain control over our IT environment, and gives users a powerful business tool.”
"Network World is honoring Continental Airlines for making smart business decisions around mobility and security. Continental can now offer a simple, secure mobile connectivity solution to their mobile workers, and provide IT managers with total control over the risks, vulnerabilities and costs associated with mobile computing," said Beth Schultz, editor, Network World Signature Series. "This undertaking demonstrates the excellence Network World honors with the Enterprise All-Star Award."
