Fiberlink Integrates Verdasys Technology to Enforce Security Policies Around Applications, Devices and Data Access
August 21, 2006
BLUE BELL, Pa., August 21, 2006 – Fiberlink Communications Corp., the trusted partner for enterprises that want to simplify and secure mobile working, today announced Fiberlink Managed Information Protection , a new security service that protects corporate data-in-motion at the point of use by monitoring and controlling how the data is used by mobile and remote workers. Fiberlink leads the market in delivering this data protection as a managed service.
According to market research firm Current Analysis, Fiberlink is the first company of its kind to introduce managed services that secure remote and mobile workers against non-network based threats. In the past, Fiberlink's customers have turned to the company for integrated access solutions, but increasingly Fiberlink has expanded its solution set to deliver simple, security-centric mobility software and services to Global 2000 companies.
Fiberlink Managed Information Protection will integrate key technology from Verdasys to protect companies against insider threats to sensitive corporate data, theft of intellectual property and reputation risks, as well as hardware and software vulnerabilities. Fiberlink is delivering the new data protection solution as a managed service to simplify deployment and help ensure corporate data is being used in accordance with company, industry and government regulations.
"Fiberlink offers a comprehensive portfolio of endpoint vulnerability management services that address threats to the mobile workforce both on the network and off," said Kitty Weldon, senior analyst at Current Analysis. "Fiberlink's ability to protect valuable corporate data even when the mobile device is offline underlines the company's innovative approach to mobility."
With this announcement Fiberlink becomes the only vendor to offer companies multiple technology options for comprehensive data and device protection. Whether the worker is in the office or out of the office, online or offline, connected or disconnected from the corporate network – Fiberlink Managed Information Protection meets the strictest benchmarks for data threat protection.
"Insider threats are the security problems few companies are willing to talk about, but they must be actively addressed with a specialized security solution like any other vulnerability," said Mark Cashman, director of product management for Fiberlink. "Specifically, Fiberlink helps customers monitor and control company secrets and other sensitive data by alerting security staff if regulatory or other compliance measures are broken. Verdasys's product offers us the ability to prevent data leakage."
"Recent security breaches have demonstrated and made clear the urgent need to set specific policies around the use of sensitive corporate information, the most valuable assets a company may have," said Mark Pierson, vice president of marketing of Verdasys. "Our Digital Guardian solution comprehensively protects this data at the point-of-use, by monitoring and controlling end-user activity. This new relationship with Fiberlink means that our products will now be integrated and combined to create a very powerful solution to meet the growing mobile data security needs of today's enterprise customers. This is a great opportunity for us, and will further extend Verdasys's ability to reach and engage new market segments."
Fiberlink Managed Information Protection is available immediately. Fiberlink will manage this new service on behalf of its customers, helping them customize this solution for their organization, define classifications of data and end-user activity, and establish policies around those classifications. It is delivered to customers on a per-user, per-month license fee.
Fiberlink Managed Information Protection is just one part of the Fiberlink managed security suite, the industry's most complete, best-in-class suite of security applications that help enterprises simplify and secure their mobile working environment. This new service is fully integrated into the company's mobility service platform and offered in conjunction with a comprehensive portfolio of access solutions to enable a streamlined and comprehensive approach to policy enforcement and real-time remediation.
