Fiberlink Senior Security Expert Demonstrates How Hackers Steal Information From Mobile Laptops
August 18, 2006
WHAT: In an online video posted today, a Fiberlink security expert demonstrates how a hacker gains access to corporate laptops, bypassing anti-virus and firewall protection. Once inside, the hacker has full access to the corporate network, stealing confidential information and destroying sensitive company assets.
Fiberlink’s expert “white hat” ethical hacker, Daniel V. Hoffman, (CISSP, CWNA, CEH) demonstrates a series of four modern-day attacks:
Hack 1: Access Point Phishing, the “Evil Twin”
Hack 2: Vulnerable, Simply Surfing the Net
Hack 3: Unaware of Vulnerabilities at 30,000 Feet
Hack 4: Modifying Malware to Pass Undetected by Anti-Virus
With the increase in mobile computing, more and more workers are taking advantage of technology to work anywhere, anytime they choose to stay productive. This video shows enterprises how to take steps to proactively protect roaming laptops that are being used to connect back to the corporate network to access sensitive data and resources.
This video is produced by the team behind Fiberlink’s Extend360™, a solution that enables organizations to proactively manage their mobility environments and identify the most effective means of securing their networks and mobile infrastructure.
WHY: By 2008 75 percent of the sales and services workforce worldwide will be mobile, according to research firm Gartner. Companies spend more time addressing the least vulnerable mobile devices these employees rely on and less time addressing the most vulnerable device – those outside the network. Fiberlink is the trusted partner for enterprises that want to simplify and secure mobile working.
