Company Delivers EV-DO High-Speed Wireless Access to More Than 50 Enterprise Customers
September 9, 2005
BLUE BELL, Pa. – September 8, 2005 – Fiberlink Communications Corp., a leading innovator and trusted partner for secure mobile workforce solutions, announced this week that more than 50 enterprise customers have deployed its Extend360™ mobile access software to provide mobile workers with Fiberlink-provisioned EV-DO wide-area wireless service in the four months since its launch.
In May 2005 Fiberlink announced it was the first to offer broadband wireless EV-DO network access along with a complete set of wired and wireless access options to enable mobile workers to safely connect to their corporate network anytime, anywhere their work takes them. Enterprise customers like Grant Thornton and Union Switch & Signal connect mobile and remote workers using Fiberlink’s advanced wide-area wireless services.
The addition of EV-DO marks a significant upgrade to Fiberlink’s “All Access” service plan. Also included in the plan is Extend360 software and Wi-Fi, hotel broadband and dial services that provide mobile workers with fast, secure access to corporate networks. Fiberlink delivers wide-area wireless service in conjunction with Extend360 mobile access software, which gives customers a single solution with a diverse means of access for end-users while maximizing security and minimizing the cost to configure, deploy and manage remote access services. Fiberlink’s EV-DO service offers compelling end-user broadband speeds without the short-range limitations or security issues associated with public Wi-Fi hot spots.
“Soon after using the EV-DO cards with Extend360 we realized the cost and efficiency gains of allowing our mobile workers to connect through broadband without relying only on Wi-Fi technology and hotel broadband. Fiberlink’s Extend360 software combines access and security in an easy to use solution for employees who work away from the office,” said Ted Davidson, manager, Network and PC Support Services, for Union Switch & Signal.
“Fiberlink customers have seen the value in an integrated wide-area wireless service offering that includes a variety of access methods and best-of-breed security solutions in a single package. The incorporation of these benefits into a user-friendly interface increases productivity of the mobile workforce, while bundled pricing options and simplified provisioning, deployment and support eases IT Department management responsibilities,” said Howard Pressman, manager of access solutions for Fiberlink.
Fiberlink provides the software and services that enable enterprises to securely mobilize their workforces and strike the best balance of user productivity and IT control. Since 1994, more than 800,000 mobile workers have relied on Fiberlink’s solutions for access to e-mail, corporate data and other network-based resources. Today, Fiberlink’s mobile workforce solutions go beyond basic network connectivity to ensure IT organizations have total control over the myriad security threats, compliance policies and cost concerns that are often associated with mobile computing. Gartner, Yankee Group and Burton Group consistently recognize Fiberlink as an innovative leader in mobile and remote access solutions. Fiberlink customers include Continental Airlines, Grant Thornton and Targus Group International. Headquartered in Blue Bell, Pa., Fiberlink has offices throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
