Fiberlink Commits to Advancing Industry Standard to Protect Computing Assets in Any Mobile Work Scenario
June 22, 2005
BLUE BELL, Pa. – June 21, 2005 – Fiberlink Communications Corp., a leading innovator and trusted enterprise partner for secure mobile workforce solutions, today announced that it has joined the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), a non-profit organization devoted to the creation of standards for strengthening the computing platform against software-based attacks. As part of TCG, Fiberlink will help develop standards and implement solutions for mobile security.
“With the dramatic increase in workers connecting to the Internet from home, public Wi-Fi locations and hotels, security is the biggest issue facing companies today,” said Brian Berger, TCG marketing work group chair. "Fiberlink’s unique expertise in delivering secure mobile working solutions for enterprise users will be a valuable contribution in the development of future specifications and products in this area."
Fiberlink continues to enhance the capabilities of its award-winning Dynamic Network Architecture (DNA) platform and Extend360 mobile access software, and membership in TCG will help ensure those applications evolve in lockstep with security standards. Adhering to TCG specifications will enable more secure computing environments without compromising functional integrity, privacy or individual rights. The primary goal is to help users protect their information assets (data, passwords, keys, etc.) from compromise due to external software attacks and physical theft.
"TCG’s goal of extending layered security across a broad range of computing devices and platforms – directly aligns with Fiberlink’s mission of enabling enterprises to securely mobilize their workforces and strike the best balance of user productivity and IT control,” said Fiberlink Chief Technology Officer Barry Porozni. "We are committed to helping develop the security standards and products that will advance the security of any mobile work scenario."
More than 100 companies worldwide are current TCG members, including Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Sony, Sun Microsystems and many leading mobile systems and services vendors. TCG has active work groups for PCs, mobile devices, servers, networks and embedded systems. Hardware and software specifications have been completed and are available on the organization's Web site (www.trustedcomputinggroup.org).
