April 13, 2005
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Gartner Wireless & Mobile Summit – April 12, 2005 – Fiberlink Communications Corp., a leading innovator and trusted enterprise partner for secure mobile workforce solutions, today announced that it has signed agreements with Panasonic Network Services, Inc. and PCCW Ltd. to offer CDMA-based wide-area wireless services in China. The two companies are using Fiberlink’s multi-service Extend360™ mobile access software to offer a full range of connectivity options to mobile workers in more than 200 cities across China’s 31 provinces.
Fiberlink’s wide-area wireless offering using CDMA 1xRTT includes a flat-rate price without roaming fees for nationwide access. Fiberlink is the only service provider to offer this wide-area wireless network connectivity in addition to other forms of wired and wireless access. The company is the first to offer integrated services in both the U.S. and China. Its provisioning, wireless access card and single point of billing for multiple services helps IT manager’s tame complexity and raise cost-effectiveness. Meanwhile, employees gain easier access to the right resources at the right times, wherever they are.
“Our global customers depend on PCCW’s ability to offer their mobile workers the one-click access to enterprise resources they expect, over any available network,” said Jordick WP Wong, AVP of Product for PCCW Ltd. “Fiberlink’s mobile workforce solutions offer our customers superior choice and security to maintain the same level of productivity on the road as in the office, while ensuring full compliance with their corporate security and budget policies.”
“Fiberlink is proud to be the only solution provider today to offer CDMA mobile data services within a single mobile access client, which integrates best-of-breed managed security services to help control and protect the industry's broadest array of wired and wireless transport options," said Rake Jiang, Managing Director Asia-Pacific. "Many global enterprises have recognized the need to provide true 'anywhere' access for their roaming employees in China and have adopted Fiberlink's wide-area wireless solutions to help them maintain optimal levels of productivity without totally surrendering control and security over their network."
Fiberlink’s Extend360 is the first mobile access software of its kind to provide mobile workers with access via Wi-Fi, wired broadband, dial-up and wide-area wireless networks through a single client interface. Fiberlink goes beyond connectivity alone. It integrates best-of-breed managed security services to ensure the endpoint is protected and in line with corporate security and usage. Built on Fiberlink’s Dynamic Network Architecture™ (DNA), Extend360 allows mobile workers to seamlessly roam between a full assortment of wired and wireless access technologies depending on their work environments and needs, without worrying about security threats or re-configuring network connections.
