Fiberlink Utilizes Lucent Managed Services to Enhance Global Support

MURRAY HILL, NJ--(MARKET WIRE)--Aug 9, 2004 -- Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) today announced a multi-year agreement with Fiberlink Communications Corp. to provide global network management services enabling Fiberlink to enhance its global network operations while it delivers managed remote access and security services to its enterprise customers.
Fiberlink, a trusted enterprise partner for managed remote access and security services, has selected Lucent to broaden the set of managed services Fiberlink offers via its global multi-vendor network. The Lucent-Fiberlink agreement will allow Fiberlink to more effectively handle its rapidly expanding global customer base while adding greater support for its managed remote and site-to-site VPN services.
Fiberlink joins more than 30 other service providers around the world who are leveraging the expertise of Lucent Worldwide Services in managing complex communications systems to ensure the quality and reliability of their networks. Lucent has announced more than $280 million in managed services' contracts over the last year with more than a half-dozen service providers in more than a dozen countries.
Lucent Worldwide Services will provide a variety of support and fault management services, including an improved alarm reporting system, regional fault resolution, provisioning, and management of staging and installation for Fiberlink's VPN customer sites. These services will be provided from Lucent's Global Network Operations Center (GNOC) located in Denver and also supported by Lucent's other two GNOCs in Sydney, Australia and Hilversum, The Netherlands. They will also be integrated into Fiberlink's Network Operations Center (NOC) located in Blue Bell, Pa.
By taking advantage of Lucent's global network management and problem resolution capabilities integrated in its GNOC, Fiberlink will be able to provide higher quality services, more timely response and enhanced regional support for its growing global customer base.
