January 6, 2004
BLUE BELL, Pa. - Jan. 6, 2004 - Fiberlink Communications Corp., a leading provider of comprehensive, policy-centric remote access services for enterprises, was recently recognized by independent technology research company Forrester Research, Inc., at its Emerging Technology Showcase (ETS) event, as the overall winner in the category of "Extending and Protecting Network Perimeters and Applications."
The ETS event was designed to introduce Information Technology (IT) professionals to new technologies that have the potential to impact their business. More than 300 senior-level IT executives and Forrester analysts attended ETS.
The event featured technology and solution demonstrations by more than 30 companies. Each demonstration fell into one of six key technology areas (TechnoVistas). Fiberlink competed in the TechnoVista category of "Extending and Protecting Network, Perimeters and Applications" by giving a live demonstration of its Dynamic Network Architecture (DNA) Platform and Extend360 secure remote access solution. The ETS IT audience evaluated each demonstration in the areas of innovation, business potential and quality of the demonstration. Fiberlink scored an average of more than four out of five in each category. In addition, 46 percent of the IT audience voted Fiberlink as the overall winner in the TechnoVista category of "Extending and Protecting Network Perimeters and Applications."
Fiberlink unveiled its DNA Platform last September when the company was selected to deliver a similar demonstration at DEMOmobile 2003. The DNA Platform integrates tier-one networks, security technologies and emerging access standards and protocols into a single system architecture, eliminating the piecemeal approach to enterprise remote access. Built on the DNA Platform, Extend360 integrates security and management features with global access, connecting remote workers to the corporate network while securing and protecting both the connection and critical business applications. Extend360 puts endpoint security and management firmly into the hands of IT, enabling them to extend business policies in real-time to remote workers.
"As companies consider their technology investments for 2004, key decision-makers want to learn about the emerging technology that can be applied to their business directly," said Merv Adrian, vice president at Forrester. "ETS presents an intimate opportunity for attendees to determine which of the presented technologies are viable for their business needs in the short term and which will provide growing business value over time."
"Our customers tell us that remote and mobile workers bring tremendous growth to their companies - especially when the risks they pose are maintained." said Bill Wagner, chief marketing officer of Fiberlink. "ETS offered us a tremendous opportunity to gather feedback from a pool of industry experts in one, focused setting. The enthusiastic response we received from the audience on the DNA Platform and Extend 360 served to verify that Fiberlink continues developing remote access technology that is important and innovative to our customers."
