Fiberlink Integrates Over 5,000 Global Hot Spots into DNA Platform

Expands Enterprise-class Wi-Fi Reach Across Europe, Asia and Latin America

November 17, 2003

BLUE BELL, Pa.Nov. 17, 2004 – Fiberlink, the leading provider of comprehensive, policy-centric remote access solutions for enterprises, today announced that it has integrated over 5,000 Wi-Fi hot spots into its new Dynamic Network Architecture (sm) (DNA). Fiberlink's DNA Platform (sm), unveiled at DEMOmobile 2003 in September, unifies the control, availability, security and management of worldwide enterprise access by integrating tier-one networks, security technologies and emerging access standards into a single-system architecture. With this announcement, Fiberlink becomes the first company to extend advanced security and policy-based management to wireless broadband and devices, putting control of remote access firmly in the hands of IT managers.

Wireless connectivity offers significant productivity gains for mobile workers - adding up to 11 hours of new work output per week according Gartner research. The potential efficiencies for enterprises are staggering considering industry analyst projections that remote and mobile worker numbers will swell to 106 million by 2006 from 78 million in 2002. Baseline Magazine forecasts that companies will spend $1.7 billion on wireless networking this year.

"Security remains the main roadblock to widespread enterprise deployment. Integrating the critical elements of layered security and policy enforcement into a best-in-class wireless network, through a holistic platform-based approach, marks an important industry development," said, Gartner Research Director Bill Clark. "Transforming Wi-Fi into an enterprise-class solution will be the key to enabling enterprises to finally tap the productivity they seek from a mobile solution while mitigating business risk."

The enterprise-class Wi-Fi network Fiberlink offers its Global 2000 customers now spans over 5,000 hot spots worldwide: approximately 3,000 under contract in Europe, 1,700 in the U.S., and 400 combined in Asia and Latin America. This aggregated network of hot spots will offer globetrotting road warriors secure wireless access across 19 countries.

Fiberlink and partner Boingo Wireless keep enterprise Wi-Fi networks secure by performing rigorous testing on each hot spot. These tests ensure each access point will integrate smoothly with Fiberlink's other best-in-class security technologies, such as personal firewalls, anti-virus protection and VPNs.
