Steve Zarrilli Recognized for Unparalleled Technology Assistance to Arts, Cultural Organizations
April 1, 2003
Blue Bell, Pa. - April 1, 2003 – Honoring outstanding leadership in the support of the arts in the greater Philadelphia region, the Arts & Business Council named Fiberlink's Chief Financial Officer Steve Zarrilli a recipient of the first ever Technology Connectors - Volunteers of the Year Award. The award recognizes Zarrilli, along with five other influential local executives, for unmatched contributions to local arts and cultural growth through technology.
Nonprofit arts and cultural organizations face tremendous challenges in the effective use and implementation of technology. Launched in 2001, the Technology Connectors program matches technology professionals with businesses in the arts and cultural community that have specific technology needs. Through these managed volunteer assignments, arts organizations receive software training, attend workshops on strategic technology planning and get support for individual technology projects.
The winning team of technology professionals became involved with the Technology Connectors in its infancy. Zarrilli, a Council board member and well-recognized technology leader, spearheaded the effort by bringing several colleagues to the Council to guide and assemble the new program. Through the program, technology professionals sharpen their skills in a creative environment, expand their professional networks, and make a positive difference in the community. This year, the council recognizes Zarrilli for his ongoing efforts to keep arts alive in the community.
"At Fiberlink, I am exposed to a tremendous wealth of technology information and development. It's important for me to share that knowledge with an organization like the Arts & Business Council in a way that benefits the entire community," said Zarrilli. "I consider it a privilege to be a part of an organization that works so hard to support the arts at the local level and it's an honor to be recognized with such distinguished colleagues."
Zarrilli is a frequent lecturer on Internet technologies and emerging company matters and has been highlighted in a variety of national publications for his entrepreneurial achievements. Throughout his professional career, Zarrilli remains involved in arts and other non-profit endeavors. Steve is married with three children and resides in Malvern, PA.
Founded in 1981, the Arts & Business Council of Greater Philadelphia provides regional leadership as an advocate for business support of the arts and as a catalyst for creating mutually beneficial partnerships between the region's business sector and nonprofit arts and cultural organizations. Since its inception, services valued at $18 million have been provided to close to 400 arts and cultural organizations with more than 1000 business executives volunteering in the Council's programs.
